Nutrition for Growth (N4G)

The Greenway Foundation commits to nutrition for pregnant women.

Paris, France - June 3, 2024 - The Greenway Foundation joins forces with the WTA Foundation's Global Women's Health Fund to support access to prenatal vitamins for pregnant women in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). This initiative is part of the “Women Change the Game” campaign, which aims to unite the world of women's tennis and philanthropy to raise awareness and funds for women's health.

A public health issue

More than a billion women and girls worldwide lack access to the essential nutrients and health services they need to survive and thrive. Pregnant women in LMICs are particularly vulnerable, as most do not have access to prenatal vitamins, a simple and inexpensive intervention that can have a considerable impact on their health and that of their baby.

A concrete commitment

Thanks to its innovative revenue model, the Greenway Foundation will collect an additional 1% contribution on all payments made with Greenway cards. These funds will then be donated to UNICEF's Child Nutrition Fund, which will use them to purchase and distribute prenatal vitamins to pregnant women in LMICs.

A worldwide movement

The Greenway Foundation's announcement comes as part of a wider global movement to improve nutrition for pregnant women. At an event held in conjunction with the French Open tennis tournament, Kirk Humanitarian, an American philanthropic organization, pledged US$125 million to support access to prenatal vitamins in LMICs. This commitment is the first formal contribution to the Nutrition for Growth (N4G) Summit, to be held in March 2025.

An ambitious goal

We share the objective of the “Women Change the Game” campaign and the N4G Summit: to provide at least 260 million women in 45 countries with access to prenatal vitamins by 2030. This would save over half a million lives, improve birth outcomes for over five million babies and prevent anemia in over 15 million pregnant women.

A call to action

The Greenway Foundation encourages individuals and institutions to support the WTA Foundation's Global Fund for Women's Health. Together, we can help ensure that all pregnant women, wherever they live, have access to the quality healthcare they and their babies deserve.
